Film Industry: Black Widow

Film Industry: Black Widow

1) The companies involved were Marvel, Disney, Blitz, Warner Bros, and many more.

2) Conglomerate ownership is when a larger company owns smaller companies called subsidiaries. This links to Black Widow as Disney (a hugely successful company) owns Marvel (a subsidiary).

3) The suspenseful music, camera movement and stars in the film all indicate that the film is a big-budget film. Each part of the trailer and film has been made with precision which also lead to the conclusion is expensive.

4) The film was marketed through traditional methods, such as chat shows and interviews which featured the stars of the film. Posters and trailers were also used, as well as profiles promoting the film on social media. They were effective as they created lots of anticipation for the film and hype for It across all platforms.

5) The budget for the film was around $200 million and it made around $379 million.

6) I would consider it successful but not as much as other more popular Marvel films which brought in more money from the box office. However it did make over $179 million which is still quite a lot of money.

7) The BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) regulates films in the UK.

8) Black Widow was given the rating of 12A. This is because it did not contain any particularly gruesome scenes. Most Marvel films are given this rating as they want a wide range of audiences to see their film and make more money.

Extension Tasks:

1) I think that she has a right to be angry as she was not informed of the decision and therefore could not have agreed to allowing the film to be released on multiple platforms. In addition, considering the film was one of Marvel's worst to date, means that she would probably be correct in her decision and might have made more money for Marvel.

2) IMAX is especially important for marketing as it allows filmmakers to expand and explore the visuals of the film through its cutting-edge sound systems and production. It allows for larger images, which are more lifelike and realistic. Exclusively in IMAX, sequences shot with the IMAX camera will expand to fill the entire screen, which will allow audiences to see up to approximately 40 per cent more of the image with vivid and well-presented clarity and colour saturation.

3) They use posters, images and other films in order to make the film seem more exclusive to the audience. Star power is also used by presenting the main characters in the film who are well-known for their films, making the fans of those actors and actresses more intrigued by the film as they are loyal to the stars of the film.

4) Audience interaction is especially important as it creates a buzz and hype around the film and in turn pushes many other fans to interact. Word-of-mouth helps create more information about the film and encourages fans to spread the word about it. This is a form of marketing and can gain a lot of fans and money from the film due to this.

5) The majority of the comments praise the film, congratulating the work of Disney and Marvel in order to create the film. A few comments complain about some features of the film, but otherwise most of the comments speak positively.

6) I don't think that are too many Marvel films, as of course they have to make films, however I do think that the amount of sequels and spin-offs is slightly too much. The majority of fans appreciate original films and accurate storytelling that can move the audience, evoke emotion and create a captivating experience. While creating sequels and spin-offs encourages new fans to see earlier films, it also tarnishes images of previous characters if it presents them badly, and might make older, loyal fans to complain.
