Camera Movement and Editing

Camera Movement and Editing 1) The camera movement at the beginning is slow and pans towards important objects and characters, such as the camera, hinting at the eerie way it follows the people who are boarding and leaving the train. In addition, the dolly at the beginning which focuses on the newspaper perfectly depicts the important points of the clip without using any narration or on-screen text (0.22). The cut towards the main character effectively draws the audience's attention towards the man and the fact that he is the wanted man on the newspaper. This may make the reader more intrigued or focused on the man who the camera cuts to (0.36). This atmosphere changes, however, when the camera cuts to the man leaving the train. The cut from him to the men with the guns actively presents an air of tension and suspense between the two parties, leading the audience to believe the two may be rivals, or that the men in black are officers of some kind (0.49). This directly influences th

Camerawork

Camerawork: Doctor Who, The Stolen Earth Camera Shots: 1) The opening two-shot introduces the characters and gives the audience a sense of who the characters are and a background introduction on their names and jobs. In addition, it keeps the audience interested as the shots jump between characters and their dialogue perfectly demonstrates key information that is necessary to the clip and environment.  2) The close-up at 0:43 brings into focus Dr. Jones and her significance as a character. It also draws interest from the audience as to the information about Jones and what her focus and background may be about. It zooms in on her surprised and attentive expression, which may help the audience to further sympathise and gain an understanding of her as a character.  3) The cut-in at 2:42 brings into light the props used in the scene to further understand the characters' purpose and the mission that they are going on that the audience can see. In addition, the props are used to help the

Photoshop: Fruit Bowl

Image
Photoshop Fruit Bowl This fruit bowl has been done with autumn-style colours to represent the change of seasons from summer to winter. For example, the browns, greens and oranges have been used to show the different colours of the leaves that fall during this time, and some greens and browns have been used to depict nature and its change. In addition, the blues and yellows have been used to show the sky and how it would be like during this season. The reds and pinks have been used for the warm colours that might be associated with this season, such as fireplaces or some leaves.

Mise-En-Scène

Image
Mise-En-Scène 1) Costume - Will is wearing a red and yellow coat that is sleeveless. These are primary colours which may further demonstrate that he is around eleven years old. His shirt is striped and over another white shirt. This may show that the scene is in winter or autumn. Also, the white shirt looks to be slightly too small for him, which may perhaps represent his financial situation. The shirt and jacket, along with his blue jeans, may represent the fashion sense in the 1980s and clothing which may have been more popular back then.  2) Lighting - Lights are flickering on and off, which may signify to the audience that something dangerous is going to happen or the characters are in some form of danger. In addition, the darkness in the woods may also demonstrate eeriness or suspense that is building up. The constant focus on lighting throughout the clip may show the significance of it and the audience may believe it links to the monster.  3) Setting - The contrast between the wa

Denotation and Connotation

Image
Denotation and Connotation Water Aid Advert Denotations : We can see a child looking at the camera in a quite upset way, wearing a worn shirt. In the background of the picture we can see a village or town. The wall beside the boy has been used to show the message of the advert, 'Dig toilets, not graves'.  Connotations : A non-verbal (symbolic) code might be the way the boy is sitting, rather slouched with a frown on his face. This might convey to the audience that he is in need or upset because he does not have money or water. In addition, the colours used in the background are quite dull and boring, maybe to contrast with the white of the text or symbolise a lack of water or joy which might have otherwise been found in colours and colourful images. Also, the background may imply that the child or people living there might be in a second or third-world country that is not as modern or developed as others.  Analysis : The text might make the audience feel pity for the boy as t
