In the beginning of the episode, the use of camerawork and editing consists of low angle shots of Lyra and Mrs Coulter makes them seem powerful and reveals their dominance. The daemons and setting are used to present the idea of fantasy and the unearthly backdrop. The wide, establishing shots are used to emphasise the setting. Towards the end of the episode, the c
